Density matters as much as the metal price: platinum costs less per gram than gold but the same band weighs nearly twice as much.

14k White Gold: Bright white via rhodium plating, which needs refreshing every two to four years.

Width

The single biggest price lever. Going from 4 mm to 6 mm adds about half again as much metal.

4.0 mm

Thickness

Wall depth. Under 1.4 mm a band can bend out of round; over 2.2 mm it feels chunky and costs noticeably more.

1.6 mm

Length (ring size)

Size is really the length of metal wrapped around the finger. A size 12 uses about 30% more metal than a size 5.

Profile

The cross-section shape. It changes both comfort and how much metal is actually in the ring.

Court: Gently domed outside, flat inside, edges softly rounded. The traditional British wedding band shape.

Finish

Surface treatment is labour, not metal — it adds a flat fee and changes how wear shows.

High Polish: Mirror bright. Shows fine scratches most, but polishes back easily.

How this is calculated

We work out the volume of metal from your width, thickness and inside circumference, adjust it for the profile, then multiply by the metal's density to get the gram weight. That weight is priced at current finished-metal rates, and bench labour, finishing and engraving are added on top.

What changes a wedding band’s price?

Metal and weight Platinum is dense, while gold price varies by purity and alloy. Width, thickness and ring size determine how many grams a plain wedding band requires.

Profile and finish A classic court, flat, bevelled or knife-edge profile changes volume and bench work. Polished, satin, matte and hammered finishes add different labor.
